Marine Park
Today we took the kids to an aquarium that has ocean fish, tropical animals and loads of kid-friendly exhibits about creatures living in and near the water. The children were awestruck as we walked through underwater tunnels, with huge mantas, sharks and all kinds of fish — large and small, fast and slow, in every shape and colour. At times we just sat and watched the underwater world. It was a fascinating show for both kids and adults.
The floating tortoise was an impressive sight — a large, heavy animal on land but surprisingly graceful in the water. The children loved the lemur section. Lemurs have long tails, are born climbers and love to eat. In the ape area we kept an eye on our belongings, but the staff assured us the apes behave and don’t steal from visitors. They even had the smallest species of ape — one was eight years old.
The kids were keen to see crocodiles, but they were well hidden. The different spiders and snakes sparked curiosity too. A pair of large pythons made them wonder how they could get so big. The trip to the marine park had been planned for ages and the children enjoyed it to the full. After a couple of hours there they were worn out and fell asleep in the car on the way home — another day done, and the kids richer for the nature adventure.
